...on Wednesday, because outdoor concerts in a thunderstorm can be less than enjoyable. Weather.com tells us that Wednesday will bring scattered showers, so we're hoping they scatter to somewhere other than Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, because that's where O.A.R. (MySpace) will be playing.
The band is touring in support of their latest album, All Sides, released just a couple weeks ago. We haven't had a chance to listen to the album yet, and if you haven't either, don't let that dissuade you from going to Wednesday night's show; the setlists from the All Sides tour indicate that the guys are playing a lot of their older material this time around. And if you're not familiar with O.A.R.'s older material, that shouldn't dissuade you, either. This Phillyist has seen O.A.R. about a half-dozen times, and they put on a great show. The only drawback in seeing O.A.R. is the throng of obnoxious young women at their shows. But the band does an excellent job of making it worth dealing with the other concertgoers, and the maturity of their music belies the impression that some might have of them being a band mainly for teenagers.
We love a good summer concert outdoors when the weather is nice. And if it looks like it's going to rain Wednesday night, just bring your poncho.
