Whiz of the Web: Thirsty Thursday
A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

- The world's oldest Bible is going online! All we want to know is, how are they going to jam those fragile old pages down the tubes of the internets without ruining them? (Via Jill)
- Sounds like NBC is doing a not-so-good job at selling their new programs to TV critics. (Via Jill)
- It's Comic-Con time! Cinematical has a preliminary post, then coverage of preview night, and a photo of a cool X-Men Origins: Wolverine poster. Oh, and the Movie Blog is there, too!
- It was rumored a while back that Tim Burton had cast relative unknown Ryan Nikole Parker as Alice in his Alice in Wonderland, but now we get the news that he's actually cast relative unknown Australian actress Mia Wasikowska in the part.
- Uh oh! The MPAA has branded Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno with the dreaded NC-17! Apparently an appeal is already pending, but we'll see what happens. We're assuming an unrated DVD release will be forthcoming regardless.
- Somebody remade The Seven Samurai with a Rolling Stones score, and they did it for a pachinko machine. Wah?! None of that makes any sense.
- Pervs rejoice! Rumors are swirling that Miley Cyrus will star in a big-screen adaptation of Undiscovered Gyrl, a novel about a suburban girl "who descends into a life of reckless partying and promiscuity." Apparently there would definitely be nude scenes.
- It's not surprising that they're doing a Watchmen video game in connection with the film, but the format is interesting; it'll be released in two downloadable episodes for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, with the first episode coming out at the same time as the film's release, and the next at the same time as the DVD release. The game is a third-person brawler.
- Something that purports to be the Guitar Hero World Tour set list has been floating about the internet lately. In other rhythm game news, thrill as Rush fails to play their own song in Rock Band!
- Penny Arcade's Fallout 3 web comic.
- Joystiq lists the games that were missing from E3.
- NASA wants to put a garden on the moon.
- A guy who rather famously pledged his allegiance to the Zune with a few tattoos is disillusioned and trying to figure out how to cover them or get them removed.
- Shiny Shiny already made the obvious joke about this story: it's an eye pod!
- MTV is remaking The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We're not sure they could have come up with a worse idea for a remake. If there's any film whose magic is entirely unrecreatable, it's got to be Rocky Horror Picture Show.
- People in New Zealand are trying to give their kids some really, really horrible names, and one judge is putting his foot down (via Jill). Scott Adams is amused.
- More than 3,000 props, costumes, memorabilia and other items from Battlestar Galactica will soon be auctioned off. We want that full Cylon Centurion costume!
- Koji Igarashi has been trying to explain to everybody why the new Castlevania game is a fighting game.
- Universal is forming its own games publishing wing.
- Sweet Super Mario mural!
- Dude, there's a Vikings vs. Aliens movie coming out? How did we miss this?
- A new episode of Cinematic Titanic is on the way! Yay! Check out the trailer here.
- The Underwire talks to Chris Carter about X-Files.
- Tenchu IV apparently features a cute cat as a weapon.
