- At the Movies with Ebert & Roeper will soon no longer have Ebert or Roeper. Ebert is leaving over a dispute with Disney (which owns the show); he and Siskel's widow own the trademark for the thumbs-up/ thumbs-down film verdict, and they could not come to an agreement with Disney over compensation related to the trademark. We're assuming Roeper is leaving because... what's the point without Ebert? (Via Sarah)
- It's sounding like we won't be seeing film versions of the rest of the His Dark Material trilogy any time soon. We are sad now.
- The winners of this year's Outfest were announced and the leader was Were the World Mine, which is playing tonight as the closing night film of the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
- Wow: check out this fantastic pinup done for the Watchmen movie. Oh, but wait until your boss isn't looking; it's a little naughty. (Via)
- The much-anticipated Fanboys will screen at San Diego Comic Con this Thursday, and will hit theaters this September.
- The Dark Knight buzz continues! The Invincible Super-Blog offers its slightly NSFW two-word review, Cinematical takes a look at an amusing cameo, the Underwire considers what the film's success could mean for other upcoming DC comics movies, and David Goyer reveals that he and Christopher Nolan have already worked out what the villain and theme for their third Batman movie would be (via Sarah).
- A Boston couple have refused filmmakers permission to film in their building upon learning that Mel Gibson is involved with the project. Their dislike of him stems from the anti-Semitic remarks he made during his 2006 drunk driving arrest. (Via Sarah)

- And yet more leftover E3 news! Joystiq got the details on Spore, and got their hands on Rock Band 2's Ion premium drum set and Mega Man 9. They also took some photos to document the emptiness of E3, and gave us a video of how Netflix works on the Xbox 360.
- The PC game Hinterland is described as "a Diablo-esque city-builder set in a fantasy world with the tag line: Loot, Level and Build." Sounds good to us! Joystiq has some pictures.
- Episode VII of GameTrailers' Star Wars video game retrospective has arrived.
- The trailer for Quake Arena, a free-to-play, browser-based version of Quake III Arena.
- A video of Sony's The Last Guy, a game whose creators "used Google Earth satellite imagery to build its stages, turning actual streets into Pac-Man-like mazes where players will be chased by some monsters and headed off at intersections by others as they lead survivors to 'escape zones.'"
- According to the president of Nintendo, thought-controlled gaming is only "a few years away." It will happen thanks to a video game headset, which will be able to detect brainwaves and use gesture-based technology.
- If you're expecting lots of references to characters and plotlines from the TV show in the new X-Files movie, prepare to be disappointed. Chris Carter says it won't have any of that!

- Michael Rymer, who directed 20 episodes of Battlestar Galactica, will helm and co-produce a new film version of Witchblade.
- Guitar Hero World Tour will feature two Jimi Hendrix songs ("The Wind Cries Mary" and a live version of "Purple Haze"), as well as Jimi himself; he'll be a playable character. While you wait for the game to be released, you can entertain yourself with Saxophone Hero!
- A script outline has been completed for Top Gun 2 and the bosses want Tom Cruise to star.
- The Underwire provides an interesting look at some of the new shows coming to the Sci Fi Channel.
- Yet another mod involving the entire guts of the NES, plus games and a controler, getting stuffed into something. This time the thing it's getting stuffed into is a lightgun.
- Apparently Iran recently used Photoshop to fake a picture of some missiles launching. Wired has a gallery of amusing Photoshopped responses.
- Nintendo Wii Fanboy selects the top five "Mehs" in Nintendo's history.
