Blogged Around Philly
Here's what's blogging in our neck of the woods:
Phoodie has the info on a new iPhone app that will make finding a restaurant in our fair city that much easier, while potentially breaking your new phone in the process!
Septa Watch has the curious story of an old Septa trolley that found its way to Brooklyn. (OK we get it! New York is better! Even our trolleys want to be there. Fine!)
New resident in Rittenhouse Square? Great! Your uniform will arrive shortly.
Phillyist is a big admirer of old-timey faded painted-on signs that adorn the facades of old buildings throughout the city—Ghost Signs some folks call 'em—and Design Philadelphia has the story of a guy who wants to chronicle as many as he can.
Finally, blogs do a great many things: cover news, express opinions, act douchey; but there are also blogs that journal the everyday experiences of the everyday person. Punk Rock Mommy is one of those blogs. It was authored by Philly gal Andrea Collins-Smith and her husband Kelly and followed their lives as Andrea struggled with inflammatory breast cancer. Sadly, Andrea passed away over the holiday weekend. Before she passed she wrote her final post, to be published posthumously. It's worth reading. In a blogosphere where life is all about the immediacy and aggressiveness of snarky posts, celebrity gossip and iPhone coverage, it is a sober reminder that living is so much more.
