• When a 46-year-old Upper Darby meter maid tried to write a ticket for a Yeadon couple whose car was parked illegally, she ended up getting into a fight with them that ended with the couple driving off with her ticket book, leaving her with a broken wrist.
• The Nutter administration is researching whether to charge residents for trash collection, with the idea that this would encourage recycling because there is typically no charge for collecting recyclable waste.
• Another reason to fear the gas pump: criminals have been installing card-readers on area pumps that record credit- and debit-card information. And that's not the only weird crime to look out for: thieves have been taking manhole covers for the scrap metal.
