- At 11:45AM today at the John Welsh Memorial Fountain in Fairmount Park, the Centennial District Master Plan will be announced. It's a plan for revitalizing the Centennial District in Fairmount Park. Legislation to authorize funding for the plan will soon be introduced by Senator Bob Casey and Rep. Chaka Fattah.
- The resurfacing project on 12 miles of the Schuylkill Expressway continues this week, and that means more overnight lane closures; check out the details here. Meanwhile, bridge inspections in Philadelphia and construction on Commodore Barry Bridge ramps will cause even more traffic restrictions.
- The higher gas prices are affecting everybody, even local police departments. Meanwhile, residents of the area could have another price increase to deal with soon: "In 2010, state-imposed rate caps on electricity prices are set to expire, and utilities are positioning themselves for massive increases. In some parts of Pennsylvania, depending on the provider, residential customers could have to pay an additional 70 percent or more."
- "Homicide and violent crime decreased substantially during the first half of the year, but the decline is not keeping pace with the ambitious goals set by Mayor Nutter and Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey."
