We Got Your Freedom Right Here, Part Two

the bellYou think the Fourth of July party stops on the 5th? Hell no! You got a whole weekend’s worth of patriotism to work through… not to mention food…

Saturday:
If you haven’t shaken those pesky kiddies off yet, you could take them back to Franklin Square, or change it up and get their faces painted and energy expended on Independence Mall from 10AM to 1PM. When you get hungry, head to the Great Plaza on Penn's Landing where you will not only get the Super Scooper All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival again (from noon to 9PM), but also the Taste of Philadelphia, a smorgasbord from some of Philly's finest restaurants. Each taste is $5ish. You might want to pass on the cheesesteak samples, and hoof it down a few blocks to get to the sources.

Give it here for blasts from the past: Boyz II Men in concert! For reals! The fun starts at 7:30PM; we've gotten our letter cardigans and walking sticks out in anticipation. Man we love those guys. The concert will be followed with fireworks over the Delaware. If you're a Jersey-ite, you can take up residence on the Camden Waterfront for a clear view.

If you’re in the mood to celebrate your freedoms a slightly different way, Peek-a-boo Revue will be performing their burlesque routines at Johnny Brenda's at 9PM. It’ll set you back $15. It’s worth it.

Sunday:
It’s Sunday. The day of rest. Go gorge yourself on the Taste of Philly and the ice cream; if you feel guilty about all the food, get to Penn’s Landing early (9AM) for their Feel Great Fitness Series, featuring Tai Chi this week. It may not take off those extra pounds, but at least you’ll be calmer about them.
