Phillyist Framed Was a Success!

Phillyist Framed

We're thrilled (and slightly relieved) to report the success of Friday's gallery opening, Phillyist Framed 2008! (If you're not sure what we're talking about, refer back to our original request for entries.) Our winning photographers rose to the challenge and supplied 24 beautifully framed pieces for the walls of Studio 34. They also did a great job promoting their show and bringing their friends, especially Cecil, who led a serious entourage. Total attendance was over 100 people.

If you missed the opening night, you can still view the work until late July at Studio 34, located at 4522 Baltimore Ave. Stop in any weekday from 10 AM to 8 PM.

We were a bit busy keeping things under control to get a lot of photos, but here are a few—and be sure to see our long list of thank-yous after the gallery and the jump!

Our sincere gratitude goes out to those who helped save us from a heart attack and make the show a success.

  • Our winning photographers who give their time, and framing money, to be the heart of our show.

  • James, Stephen, Brad, and the rest of the staff at Studio 34 Yoga | Healing | Arts for providing us with an amazing, enormous, and beautiful space to host the show, and for helping in too many other ways to name.
  • Our judges Brad Maule and JJ Tiziou.

  • Phillyist staffers Jen, Ross, Pencopal, and Andrew, as well as Phillyist fan and non-staffer Meghan, for being great extra hands and company on the opening night, and especially editor Jill for tons of work putting everything together.

  • Sommer and Heather at DCist for helping form the show's concept, which was modeled off of their similar show DCist Exposed.

  • Frankie Bones from Center Stage Entertainment and our awesome DJ, Jared.

  • Kylie and the others at the Framer's Workroom (2103 Walnut).

  • Pete at the Photo Lounge (1909 Chestnut) for our printing needs.

Remember, you can catch all the winning photos at Studio 34 for another month!

Frankie Bones?

...

As in DJ Frankie Bones?

Kudos on gettin' the post and the pics up. I've been looking forward to it.

Oh man, I can't believe I met another person that knows Frankie Bones. Unbelievable. Yep, you've got the right guy in mind. We went to college together.

Good to meet you at the show!

Hmm...not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'll assume a good thing unless I hear otherwise! :)

Yeah, definitely a good thing. It's just that the guy knows everyone.

I had an entourage too!

16, to be precise. :)

16? Damn, I had no idea. Thanks a lot.
