
- "Two bills aimed at cleaning up commercial breeding kennels in Pennsylvania are slated for committee votes in Harrisburg today."
- A new veterans cemetery to be known as Washington Crossing National Cemetery is scheduled to start construction in Bucks County next year, with the first burials starting toward the end of the year. The plans for the new cemetery will be available for review tonight during a public briefing by the Department of Veterans Affairs at Washington Crossing Historic Park.
- The Philadelphia School Reform Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing at 10AM this morning on the proposed closing of Germantown Settlement Charter School. The hearing will take place in the auditorium of the school district's administration building at 440 N. Broad St.
- Several parked cars were damaged when part of the upper facade of the nine-story Roosevelt Building at 23rd and Walnut Streets collapsed yesterday morning. No injuries were reported.
- CBS3 fired Larry Mendte yesterday. The move is almost certainly connected to the FBI investigation into Mendte allegedly reading former co-anchor Alycia Lane's email. There's also word from sources that somebody installed keystroke-logging software on a station computer. Was it Mendte? That would explain how he got Lane's password...
- The Inquirer takes a look at the rather troubling fact that, due to a shortage of funds, Amtrak has put off an estimated $5 billion in needed repairs and upgrades nationwide, and most of that is along the Northeast Corridor between Boston and Washington.
- Guess who's back in the news again?? It's our own Bonnie, Jocelyn S. Kirsch! She's being sued by the stylist who gave her her infamous hair extensions. The stylist, Jennifer Bisicchia, 25, and the salon are seeking repayment plus interest, late fees, and attorney's fees for the $2,500 worth of extensions and gratuity. Also, Bisicchia herself is looking for compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $50,000 for having to endure emotional stress from the case.
