Popped! Philadelphia 2008

popped1.JPGThe annual Popped! Philadelphia Music Festival is upon us, and if going green is the new indie rock, Popped! is getting some major cool points.

Unlike last year, Popped! is not just a music festival about Philadelphia and the bands that make up our music community. This year, and possibly moving onto future Popped! festivals, it’s about creating a sustainable music festival, and educating concert-goers on how to make necessary changes for the better of our environment.

So, expect to be drenched with pop culture items like "recycling programs," "Leonardo DiCaprio." and "World’s Sexiest (and Largest) Carbon Footprints." OK, not really. It’s still very much about the music.

The festival begins tonight, and runs through Sunday, with the biggest show on Saturday, headlined by Vampire Weekend and other indie superstars like Gorgol Bordello, Mates of State, Dan Deacon and Crystal Castles. Sean Agnew is jealous.
