Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up
The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- Yay! Sulu's getting married! (Via Jill)
- A new study reveals that diet and exercise don't just make you slimmer and healthier: they actually drastically change you at the genetic level. That's almost scary. Of course, if this means we can go on a diet and become Wolverine... well, just tell us what to eat! (Via Sarah)
- Nintendo of Europe's Laurent Fischer, who recently got into trouble for stupid comments made about the Wii's storage issues, says Nintendo is "working on a solution" to said issues, but "there's no plan to issue hardware." Which doesn't sound promising. There's also some hard data and a graph to support the idea that the frequency of Wii Shop releases in North America is slowing down. But there is good news from Nintendo: they say they'll be announcing "several new titles that core gamers will be interested in around the time of E3."
- George Lucas will be directing a movie based on the true story of The Tuskegee Airmen; it'll be called Red Tails. We assume it will feature the Airmen organizing a last ditch attack against the Nazi Death Star.
- Besides having Freddie Highmore in the title role, Astro Boy will also feature the voice talents of Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, and Eugene Levy.
- The trailer for Ong Bak 2 is supposedly online, but we can't confirm because when we tried to watch it Internet Explorer crashed. Then again, Internet Explorer crashes when we look at it funny, so maybe Ong Bak 2 isn't to blame.
- Speaking of which, Firefox 3 just came out! Download Squad has five reasons you can't live without it.
- Number 1,935 on the list of ridiculous USB-powered products: the USB Greenhouse.
- Remember that guy who was going to start out with one red paperclip, exchange it for something bigger and better, and keep doing that until he got a house? Well, he's got the house, but now... he wants to swap it for something better! He's hoping to trade the house to a local, who could perhaps build a business and maintain the site as a tourist destination. He'll be accepting offers until July 11th, but he's already gotten one: a red paper clip!
- The pilot episode for J.J. Abrams' upcoming supernatural sci-fi drama Fringe has already leaked onto BitTorrent, a full three months before it's scheduled to air on Fox. Oops!
- Get your first glimpse of the new Davros right here! Uh... looks a lot like the old Davros, actually. Apparently in the final two episodes of the current season, the Doctor will reunite with Rose Tyler to face-off against Davros and his new Dalek army.
- If you, too, were intrigued by that story we linked to yesterday about the new Adult Swim show Fat Guy Stuck in Internet, you might be interested to know that you can download the first episode for free at the iTunes Music Store.
- Play an online, Lord of the Rings-themed, drinking and axe throwing game! Good times. (Via)
- Check out the results of SCI FI Channel's online poll to determine the top 10 things to read, watch and do to save the world. Wow, Firefly took top spot in the top 10 TV shows to watch! Clearly, the Browncoats were here. You can't stop the signal!
- Spike Lee will co-write and direct a movie called Time Traveler! It's not going to be your average time travel movie, though; it'll be an adaptation of the memoir of theoretical physicist Ronald Mallett.
- The Championship Gaming Series (which describes itself as "the only worldwide professional video gaming league") will see its summer competitions covered in four 90-minute episodes on G4.
- Dude: custom-made Iron Man LEGO figure with built-in LED lights.

That's the best image I've ever seen Jim pick for a post.

Heh heh. I try. Jill and I were wondering whether we should add a "boobs" tag to this post.

Just two more reasons to love Firefox.

Ross, I'm so glad I'm dating such a classy guy.
Apparently the HTML for strike-outs doesn't work in the comments, even though it preview correctly...
