How's work going for you this week? Are you feeling a little bummed that it's Wednesday? The memory of last weekend has faded, and you've still got a couple days of work to plow through before you get to this weekend, right? You're feeling a little down, and you could really use a bit of a pick-me-up. Luckily for you, you'll be able to get exactly what you need at the Fillmore at the TLA tonight.
Alt-rock darlings Rooney will be headlining tonight's concert. But if you only show up for them, you're going to be missing out on what might be the best part of the evening, because Rooney's primary support is Brooklyn outfit Locksley (MySpace), who have really gotten our groove going with their most recent full-length album, Don't Make Me Wait. We rarely trust what bands say about themselves on their MySpace pages, but when Locksley's page says they sound like "Beatles mixed with Modern Garage Rock," it's really spot-on. They're ultra catchy, and their sound is familiar without instantly making us think they sound like any particular other band. So with that in mind, we're going to make our way to the TLA in time to catch them before Rooney takes the stage. We think it'll be just the mid-week slump-buster we need to keep up in a good mood til Friday night.
