PAWS Dog of the Week
If you missed our recent post on the breed-specific legislation bill pending in the Pennsylvania legislature, which would have an adverse effect on literally all of the dogs we've profiled on Phillyist, check it out here!
Toro (ID# A04736110)
Toro is a young (1-2 y/o) American Bulldog/Pit mix who came to the shelter last month as a stray. Unfortunately, he's gotten a bit depressed at the shelter and is experiencing some weight loss, so the sooner he gets into a loving forever or foster home, the better. Because he's young and hasn't been trained, he needs some help with obedience, but he's off to a good start with that: Toro knows "sit," he's good on a leash, and he isn't jumpy or mouthy. All he needs is someone who will love him and devote the attention to him to finish his training. A role model dog in the home wouldn't hurt either, with the caveat Toro would be best in a home with a female dog.
If you'd like to save Toro, e-mail natalie@phillypaws.org. The adoption fee for a PAWS dog is $40, plus an $8 city license fee if you live in Philadelphia. The fee includes spaying/neutering, which will be performed before your new companion comes home with you, and microchipping. Also, make note of Toro's ID number above, and bring it with you when you go to the PAWS shelter, which is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave (map).
