Philadelphia Weirdness

ufophilly.jpg"There's darned well something up here!"

Two veteran pilots were soaring in the skies over Philly during the hazy nights of the 1960s. One of the airmen was Virginia resident and television personality Arthur Godfrey. Whilst working for CBS New York he often flew his private plane to broadcasting duties. On 25th June 1965 whilst chatting to comedian Orson Bean on the subject of UFOs he recalled one particular night whilst in flight above Philadelphia accompanied by co-pilot Frank Munciello. Suddenly, to the right of the plane near the wing, a bright object appeared from out of nowhere.

After veering hastily to avoid the strange aerial phenomenon, Godfrey contacted the Philly FFA tower to ask whether any traffic was present. The tower controller replied, "None", Godfrey commented in response, "Well, there's darned well something up here!"

The object clearly was not of terrestrial origin as it began a series of maneuvers no plane or helicopter would be capable of. It stopped, reversed with ease and then began circling the two men who by now were becoming unnerved by the presence in the clouds. Then, in what seemed no time at all, the mystery craft, if it was a craft, appeared on the left wing side, and every time Godfrey attempted an evasive maneuvers, the object simply followed, at times imitating Godfrey's own aerial movements.

On the talk show with Orson Bean, Godfrey stated, "No matter what I did, it stayed there...". Despite numerous efforts to shake off the sky intruder the object buzzed them for a long time before suddenly zipping up into the blackness of night out of sight...

Is this a fictional article or can you provide us with some sourcing?
