Foodsday Tuesday: Al Fresco Dining

umbrellatables.jpg

It's about seventy billion degrees outside, but somehow, people are still eating outside at restaurants with sidewalk service. Not only eating outside, but waiting to eat outside. Ordinarily, we at Phillyist are the sit-indoors-in-the-air conditioning type, but we do love a good al fresco meal, so we can't help but feel jealous of all the people who seem completely unphased by the heat as they enjoy their lunches and dinners. We've yet to discover a location that we can stand on those especially hot days, like yesterday and today.

So what we want to know, readers, is where you like to go for an al fresco dinner, and how you manage to enjoy your outdoor dining experience. Is there a place with a good breeze? Umbrellas whose shade can't be beat? Perhaps you frequent an establishment that leaves its windows open and its air conditioning running—much to the comfort of the outdoor guests and the likely dismay of a certain Phillyist writer. We want to know the where, the what, and the how. Leave us a comment and let us know!

Sorry I don't have any good suggestions for you as I cannot understand why people insist on sitting on the car-exhaust-filled streets of Philadelphia to dine.

My alfresco dining of late has been about a four hour plane ride south of Phila. But I'll be back soon to partake in the pollution.

Was just at Effie's (11th-ish and Pine), and their garden courtyard is great. It's tucked away, so you don't get the traffic or (much of) the exhaust, and there's a little fountain. Very easy going.
