- The villain in the next Iron Man film just might be The Mandarin; director Jon Favreau had some interesting things to say about the character. (Via Ross)
- The New York City Opera has commissioned Charles Wuorinen to compose an opera based on "Brokeback Mountain," the short story that has already famously been adapted into a movie. The opera is scheduled to premiere in spring 2013. (Via Jill)
- The Invincible Super-Blog's highly entertaining review of The Machine Girl convinced this Phillyist to immediately add the film to his Netflix queue.
- Keira Knightley will star in a new film version of My Fair Lady.
- Some very cool new TV ads for Incredible Hulk feature Hulk saying his iconic catchphrase ("Hulk smash!"), and even reveal Robert Downey, Jr.'s cameo as Tony Stark (via). Speaking of cameos, there's word from the director of the film that Captain America himself might show up. We can't wait for this movie!
- Geekadelphia creeps us out with links to a couple of mighty strange photoshopping sites.
- A hack of Pong lets you play the game with others on the iPod Touch and iPhone, with the ball actually jumping from screen to screen.
- Warren Ellis discusses some mind-blowing new theories about the creation of our universe. If it turns out there are 50 other universes that are all part of a gigantic multiverse, this Phillyist's head is going to blow up.
- Leonardo DiCaprio is attached produce and star in an upcoming biopic based on the life of Atari founder Nolan Bushnell. It's called, unsurprisingly, Atari.
- XPN has a free download of a song from the latest album from Mates of State, a quirky little musical duo we rather like. Enjoy!
- Sci Fi Wire has some more details on the upcoming reboot of Friday the 13th, as well as three upcoming supernatural horror films that sound interesting (they include The Horsemen, which stars Dennis Quaid as a detective who discovers a link between himself and a series of murders based on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; The Unborn, directed by David S. Goyer, starring Gary Oldman, and focusing on a young woman fighting what she believes to be demonic possession; and the Rosemary's Baby remake).

- We already linked to a story about the fact that the main character from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed would be appearing in Soul Calibur IV, but Game|Life now has the snazzy screenshots to prove it. Meanwhile, Joystiq has a bunch of SCIV gameplay videos. Man, what's with all the scenes of Mitsurugi getting his butt handed to him? Mitsurugi rules!

- SoundCloud seems like a cool way to share and discuss music, if Download Squad's description is at all accurate.
- A German student, as part of his thesis, turned a Wii Remote into a virtual graffiti spray can with the idea of creating a communal virtual graffiti wall in which people can add their digital tags.
- The rumor is that Microsoft is going to try to steal the thunder from Apple and Steve Jobs' keynote at the Worldwide Developer's Conference by announcing today that there will be a Blu-ray player available for the Xbox 360 before Christmas. But Microsoft has so far denied any and all rumors that they're developing a Blu-ray player, so who knows what's really going on.

- Rock legend Bo Diddley passed away last week, but his guitar will live on in Rock Band 2.
- Sex and the City 2? Sadly, yes.
