Whiz of the Web: Thirsty Thursday
A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

- The teaser poster for Oliver Stone's W highlights some of our president's more infamous verbal gaffes.
- Apparently a feud has already begun between Abel Ferrara, maker of the original Bad Lieutenant, and Werner Herzog, who's doing the remake.
- The possibility of an actors' strike in Hollywood had pretty much dropped off our radar, but it sounds like it could still be an issue. SAG has set up 300 waiver deals with indie producers for post-June 30 production, should the strike go on, and some of the big productions have scheduled in a hiatus just in case.
- Cinematical has some exclusive new pics from Woody Allen's upcoming film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
- Hmm... we actually like the idea of Christopher Lee coming back for one of the Lord of the Rings prequel movies. We'd like to see Saruman's backstory.
- Brian De Palma has signed on to direct a film adaptation of a book about the Boston Strangler case. It's called The Boston Stranglers, plural, because the book puts forward the theory that there was more than one killer.
- Times Online lists the top 10 Star Wars collectibles, and Cinematical provides a handy picture gallery. (Via)
- How about some updates on all your favorite green superheroes? First of all, looks like the only guy who will get writing credit for The Incredible Hulk is Zak Penn, even though Edward Norton rather famously rewrote his original draft. Regardless of who wrote the film, some early reviews are coming in, and they're pretty good. Meanwhile, it looks like Seth Rogen's Green Hornet movie is really going to happen, with Rogen in the main role; the release date is June 25, 2010. David Goyer's movie about Green Arrow trying to escape from a prison for super villains, originally titled Supermax, has now been renamed simply Green Arrow, which is probably a good move. Finally, a Green Lantern movie is moving closer to reality. Thankfully, it's no longer going to be a comedy, and Jack Black is no longer attached to the lead role. The idea is to focus on the origin story for the Hal Jordan version of the character.
- Wow, they're actually going to try to do a remake of the infamous rape revenge film I Spit on Your Grave and release it in theaters.
- Warren Ellis presents the usual collection of weird, mind-blowing linkage, including stories about the key to all optical illusions, computers that read minds, and zombie caterpillars controlled by voodoo wasps.
- Yesterday afternoon at a sanctions hearing, a judge recommended that Jack Thompson be disbarred and prohibited from practicing law for the next 10 years. This despite the fact that Thompson walked out of the hearing claiming that the judge had no authority to rule on the charges. The Florida Supreme Court will make the final decision in the case some time on or after September 2nd.
- Some info slipped out that strongly suggests there will be a Castlevania game coming to the Wii by the Fall of this year.
- The latest gameplay footage from the new Bionic Commando focuses on the multiplayer portion of the game. Looks pretty amazing.
- Six Degrees of Wikipedia calculates how many clicks it takes to go from the page for any one item to that of any other item on Wikipedia. For instance, it takes only two clicks to go from "Death Star" to "Happy
Meal." The connector in between is, oddly enough, "Pinky and the Brain." (Via) - Google now lets you add annotations to YouTube videos.
- Check out the first trailer for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, a turn-based RPG for the DS featuring Sega's creaking old mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog.
- Joystiq has your first look at Batman as he'll appear in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
- A web game now allows you to relive, and take part in, the Steve Ballmer egging incident. What a world!
