Can't Miss This!
Happy Birthday Socrates! We wonder how he fits all 2,477 candles on his birthday cake...
THE ELECTRIC FACTORY PRESENTS: RILO KILEY
The band is ten years old but the tunes still ring new and true. They are an engaging live act, so much so that they're still riding out the success of their most recent release, 2007's Under the Blacklight. They're a killer show and good warm-weather band. Makes you want to smoke cigarettes and have deep conversations with old friends in the humid night air. They're joined by Thao with the Get Down Stay Down and Benji Hughes.
WHO: Anyone can go, 21+ to drink
WHERE: The Electric Factory, on 7th Street, one block north of Callowhill Street (map)
WHEN: 8:30pm
HOW MUCH: $27. Get 'em here.
FRALINGER STRING BAND OUTSIDE THE MUMMERS MUSEUM
Do you march to a different tune? Well, it's an outside event, but the weather looks to be holding. There are friends, family and fans of the Mummers at these weekly rehearsals that are part concert, part block party and all Mummers. With a pizza joint a block away and a decently-sized practice lot, it's a fun and unusual way to spend a summer night.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: The Mummers Museum, 2nd Street and Washington Avenue (map)
WHEN: 8pm
HOW MUCH: FREE!
