  • Mayor Nutter is scheduled to tour the recently restored baseball field at Hancock Playground in Kensington today, where he'll announce initiatives for recreation-center safety, summer jobs for youth, and new rules for the city's summer camp programs.
  • The Inquirer has some more details on how the FBI got involved in the case of Larry Mendte allegedly reading Alycia Lane's email.
  • This week the the Sheriff's Office Bench Warrant Unit in Delaware County is holding its annual Amnesty Week for parents in arrears on their child support payments. Parents who want to avoid arrest can appear at the Domestic Relations Office at the Media Courthouse during business hours this week to make a lump sum payment and get on payment plans.
  • Today members of AFSCME Local 394 will try to convince two City Council committees to reject the Water Department's attempt to privatize the city's sludge plant.
  • Yesterday, before the the non-jury trial to decide the future of Rick's Original Philly Steaks in Reading Terminal Market had even begun, court rulings were made that all but assured a loss for Rick Olivieri, so he agreed (although not without tears) to shut the place down by October 31st this year.
  • "A 43-year-old Egyptian immigrant was shot to death last night during a botched robbery as he was getting ready to close a North Philadelphia pizza shop he co-owns, police said."
