PAWS Cat of the Week

paws kittensIt's time for your weekly dose of kitty cuteness, courtesy of our friends at Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). We're still in the midst of kitten season, which means the shelter is absolutely bursting with adoptable felines. With that in mind, meet this week's PAWS Cat of the Week:

Every kitten and mom-cat in need of fostering!

People have been surrendering orphaned kittens and mom-cats with litters like crazy recently, and the shelter is absolutely full. Kittens generally aren't fit for adoption until they're about 8 weeks old, so PAWS is in desperate need of foster parents who will care for and nurture little ones until they're ready to go to their forever homes. For orphaned kittens, this may mean regular bottle feeding. Fostering would also involve keeping the kittens indoors; bringing them to the shelter for spaying/neutering; providing suitable bedding, litter, and food; and helping find forever homes for the kittens (i.e. posting the cuteness on the Craigslist pet forum). Check out the PAWS foster parent FAQ for more information.

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, or if you have any other questions, please e-mail fostercarehotline@phillypaws.org, or give PAWS a call at 267-385-3800. You can also head over to the PAWS shelter at 111 West Hunting Park Avenue (map). (Normal hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, but arrangements can be made outside the normal hours if you contact the fostercare hotline.)
