We already know that you like to put your money where your mouth is and support food-based fundraising efforts. Fortunately for you, summertime means there are plenty of opportunities to stuff your face and ease your conscience all at the same time. One of these, Fox Chase Cancer Center's 16th Annual Plain & Fancy: A Taste of the Greater Delaware Valley (a mouthful in and of itself!), happens next weekend.
For a mere thirty-five bucks (forty at the door), Plain & Fancy will feature food from some of Philadelphia's top restaurants, including Alma de Cuba, Bassetts Ice Cream Company, The Capital Grille, Chaddsford Winery, Continental Restaurant and Martini Bar, The Melting Pot, Moonstruck Restaurant, Philadelphia Brewing Co., and Susanna Foo Chinese Cuisine. Plus, your ticket lets you tour Fox Chase's research laboratories and even take part in hands-on experiments. Which would be awesome in bang-for-your-buckitude already, but is made even cooler by the fact that while you're eating, your dollars are going to cancer research and prevention programs at Fox Chase. That's right: free food, laboratory fun, and it's all going to a good cause. How can you resist?

Not only is this fox too effing adorable for words, but it goes so well with my bizarre wrinkly cat in the previous post. Big ear alert! Did you plan this, Jill?
And the post right before it was another cat!
I suggest that from this point on, all Phillyist posts must be accompanied by an animal. What do you think of that, Matt Johnson? Hmmm?
When I have a hard time finding a good photo to go with a post, I'm always tempted to use one of my dogs. I mean, I only have 92873 of them (photos, not dogs... just two dogs).
Haha. Can I borrow one? (Dog, not photo.) Ross won't let me get one of my own!
Though Jill's certainly been trying plenty hard to wear me down.
You can borrow two! How about in July, when I'm on vacation for a week? You can borrow them at my house or yours. I won't even charge the usual dog-borrowing fee.
We're going to be en medias move in July, but I'm at least happy to take them off your hands for a sunny Saturday afternoon.
