Asshole of the Week

Shore Traffic SucksHave a nominee for Asshole of the Week? Send it to us!

We're gonna keep this one short and sweet because, let's face it, it's 4:00 pm on Friday before the Memorial Day long weekend. Most of you probably aren't at work anymore anyway... if you even bothered to go to work today at all. But, if you're reading this post right before heading leaving the office, getting into your car, and heading for the Jersey Shore, man oh man are you in trouble.

Really, is there anything worse than shore traffic? Gun violence might come close. Animal cruelty is pretty bad, but does it really eclipse the horror of the Egg Harbor toll plaza on a Friday in the summer? It's a tough call.

So who's to blame for the traffic mess? Anyone and everyone who goes down the shore on Friday afternoon. Are we suggesting you don't go down the shore? Well, maybe. After all, the Jersey Shore really isn't all that great, to say the least. But it's what we've got, so we just have to deal.

Traffic sucks, yes, but when you're on the road to the shore, remember that everyone else on the AC Expressway is in the same mess you are. There's no reason to be an asshole just because you're miserable about being stuck in traffic. Everyone else is miserable, too, and you don't have a right to go off and make them more miserable just because you're in a rush to get to Maynard's to grope Rutgers girls. You're not gonna get there much quicker, but you are gonna be a big asshole.

So, our dual Assholes of the Week are everyone clogging up the AC Expressway on this Memorial Day Weekend, and everyone who uses the traffic as an excuse to be unnecessarily assholic on the roads.

We at Phillyist hope everyone has a happy, fun and safe holiday weekend. Cheers!
