Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up
The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- This looks like a cool contest: you could win a hard drive with more than 4 terabytes of space on it, pre-loaded with mp3s, videos, and more. (Via Matt)
- A gospel musical tribute to the Ewoks complete with a cameo from... well, you should really see for yourself.
- Some interesting casting rumors: we could see Bruce Willis as Hannibal in the A-Team movie, and Brad Pitt as Thor.
- Sadly, it sounds like Frank Miller won't be directing the Buck Rogers movie after all, but Guy Ritchie might direct Sgt. Rock.
- Jan de Bont is apparently going to direct a sequel to Point Break. Good lord. Click through for the plot summary.
- Werner Herzog is going to remake Bad Lieutenant with Nicolas Cage in the starring role. Holy crap.
- The first episode of Penny Arcade Adventures finally has a release date, and that date is May 21.
- Your Uwe Boll updates for today: Game|Life reports that Boll sees himself as the right guy to direct the inevitable film adaptation of Grand Theft Auto, but even he doubts he will get the job. Meanwhile, Joystiq spends an evening with Postal (Boll's latest film) and walks away yawning.
- Both Game|Life and Joystiq got to try the upcoming multiplayer FPS/zombie horror survival game Left 4 Dead, and we have to admit it sounds kind of interesting.
- Will Smith was recently spotted shooting additional scenes for Hancock in Manhattan's Times Square, despite the fact that the movie is set to be released in fewer than two months. Also, the film has apparently been submitted to the MPAA twice, and both times come back with an R rating, which is upsetting to the producers; they want a PG-13, to pull in the widest audience possible. This could mean the film will be heavily edited. But no doubt the filthy bits will be included on a future DVD release.
- A documentary feature based on the life of B-movie director Roger Corman is in the works.
- Shiny Shiny has a video of what happens when your character actually meets Conan in Age of Conan.
- Optimus Prime iPod dock! Woo hoo!
- We've already posted some of Game|Life's impressions of the WiiWare launch titles, but now you can check out Nintendo Wii Fanboy's, as well.
- Apple just made a deal with HBO to sell some of the network's shows through the iTunes Music Store, and has even agreed to sell some of them at a price that differs from their, until now, hard and fast standard. Specifically, some of the HBO shows will cost $2.99 per episode instead of the usual $1.99.
- Rumor has it that Fable 2 is "content complete," and that three more Fable sequels are being planned. Click through for more details.
- A couple of movie release dates for you: the new live-action Street Fighter will debut on February 27, 2009, and Alvin and the Chipmunks II will be released on March 19, 2010. We still find it mind-bogglingly horrifying that Alvin and the Chipmunks did well enough that we have to endure a sequel.
- The trailer for Woody Allen's latest, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, suggests that the film could also have been called Javier Bardem Does It With Many Hot Ladies, and Then Some of the Ladies Do It With Each Other. But we suppose that wouldn't have fit on movie theater marquees very well.
- The cast of Oliver Stone's W keeps coming together; the latest addition is Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld.
- Get ready for Michael Moore's sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11.
- Due to Hindu protests, the British Film Institute will not be screening
Mike Myers' latest, The Love Guru. We didn't plan on screening it, either, but it was less because of any protests and more because the movie looks terrible. - Cinematical found some more Dark Knight TV spots on YouTube. Enjoy!
