Foodsday Tuesday: Lazy or Efficient?

The Crackberry from which you may order your Shortie Italian HoagieWawa may be abandoning Center City, but for those of you not affected by the desertion, there's good news—especially if you're a young professional addicted to your Crackberry, or a teenager who can't put your Sidekick down during Calculus class:

Select Wawa locations will now let you text message your sandwich orders straight to the store. You can order online, too, but let's think for a moment here. Online ordering is nothing new. But text messaging? You've gotta admit, the idea of being able to order a meatball ("this will make me feel less drunk") sandwich at one a.m. while in a cab, and having it hot and ready by the time your alcohol-addled brain figures out how much tip to add to your fare, is pretty attractive. Possibly even brilliant.

You can get more information on how to order Wawa by proxy, including how to set up default orders for your regular selections, online at www.wawa.com/gomobo. Although it's doubtful that the service will roll out in Center City, as Wawa locations here keep closing up shop, residents of University City, as well as Malvern, Media, and, soon, Pottstown, will find their lives even easier than ever before.

Wow. If Wawa would just keep their Center City stores open, damn it, I'd be all over this.
