Whiz of the Web: Monday Meat Slices
The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment.

- The Smithsonian Magazine has an interesting article about a museum of bogus artwork in Italy. (Via Jill)
- A pic of Goku from the Dragonball Z movie.
- It's been recorded rather poorly, but this Dark Knight TV spot is still pretty cool.
- Check out Nerd World's hilarious burger-centric deleted scenes from Iron Man, then take a look at this screenshot from the movie and let us know if you think that's Captain America's shield in the background (via). Frankly, we don't think so; it doesn't look all that much like it, and it wouldn't make sense for it to be there, at least if the movies plan to follow Cap's comic book chronology.
- This Phillyist is happy to see he wasn't the only one who liked Speed Racer.
- Check out this video of a gigantic, completely functional, coffee table-sized NES controller. Brilliant!
- As we're sure you're all painfully aware, yesterday was Mother's Day. (Was this holiday incredibly over-saturated in the media and incredibly over-commercialized this year, or was it just us?) In honor of the holiday, Chris Sims provided a comic book tribute to Moms everywhere, and Cinematical did a cool series where the writers asked their Moms what their favorite movies are and why.
- There's a Donnie Darko sequel in the works which will focus on Donnie’s younger sister Samantha seven years later.
- The comic book movie adaptations continue apace. Next up for the treatment is Witchblade (which has already been adapted into a TV show or two).
- ABC is close to a series pickup of David E. Kelley's drama pilot Life on Mars, an American version of a BBC series about a 21st century cop transported to the 1970s. Apparently all the deal needs now is Kelley's approval. Meanwhile, Fox gave a series order for J.J. Abrams' SF drama Fringe for the fall, and canceled New Amsterdam (which we actually thought was pretty good; ah, well).
- Eric Stoltz has signed on to star in the two-hour pilot for Caprica, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica. Stoltz will play "a wealthy computer engineer who, after an emotionally crippling family tragedy, uses his technological wizardry to forever change the future of Caprica." Ooh, did he invent the Cylons? Interesting... In similar news, Peter Fonda has joined the cast of SCI FI Channel's upcoming two-hour pilot Revolution, about a planet colonized by humans.
- Nintendo's WiiWare digital download service launches today, and Game|Life has a guide to all the new titles.
- Playboy has their own branded cell phone now, which even comes with free porn. Also, there exists an MP3 player in the shape of a crucifix. And for some reason it felt right to us to talk about both these gadgets in the same bullet point...
- Kombo.com claims to have concept art and details on the upcoming Kid Icarus game for the Wii. (Via)
- Somebody dug up a patent filed by Apple in November 2006 for a 3D cursor system that's similar to Nintendo's Wii remote.
- Google is putting out wireless mice made of recycled plastic.
- Popeye was right! A recent study reveals that spinach does actually increase strength.
- Health counseling will soon be available in Second Life, at a doctor's consulting room on "Health Island" which will be manned by legit doctors. "Yeah, my avatar has this weird rash..."
- Get your trailers! We've got new ones for X-Files: I Want to Believe, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (via), and Indiana Jones. And we don't have a trailer yet for Zack and Miri Make a Porno, but we will in the next couple weeks, and for now there's at least a new image to tide us over.
