Whiz of the Web: Friday Fried Onions
A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

- Papa John's has surpassed $1 billion in online pizza sales. Even though ordering pizza online is obviously attractive (it's kind of a nerd's dream, actually), we're still kind of blown away by that number. $1 billion worth of pizza! (Via Jill)
- A dude in Illinois had his coffin made to look like a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon. He's not dead yet (he's getting better!), so he's just using it as a cooler for now.
- Kevin Costner has refused to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel to Dances with Wolves, and the rumor is they're looking at Viggo Mortensen to replace him. We like!
- We weren't sure we wanted to revisit the tale of horror and tragedy that was the 2000 presidential election, but we have to admit the trailer for Recount, a dramatic retelling of said events, is pretty fantastic.
- Oh no! The early reviews for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are not looking good! We're going to keep on hoping, though.
- The cover of EW has a look at Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Banks made up as George W. Bush and Laura Bush for Oliver Stone's upcoming film.
- Check out the trailer for The Promotion. Looks pretty funny.
- Frank Miller doing a Buck Rogers movie?! Yes, please!
- As a memorial to the now defunct (or really, devoured) New Line Cinema, Rotten Tomatoes lists the 25 best films from the studio. (Via)
- Gore Verbinski has been tapped to direct and produce a film based on the video game BioShock.
- Look out! Iron Man is invading Second Life! In other Marvel news, the rumor is now that the Hulk will cameo in Iron Man 2. Also, Thor will be a "period fantasy in the vein of The Lord of the Rings," and Matthew Vaughn won't be directing it after all.
- XPN has a track from the upcoming Stereolab album, and a couple of fun Stereolab videos.
- Bunraku is really starting to sound pretty exciting. It's a "hybrid martial-arts movie" (whatever that means) "set in a hyperstylized universe a la Sin City and draws from a mixed bag of genres, including puppets, origami, comic books, video games and German expressionism." It's about a drifter (Josh Hartnett) who teams with a samurai (Gackt) to take on an Eastern European gang lord (Ron Perlman). The film also stars Shun Sugata, Demi Moore, and Woody Harrelson. Crazy!
- Game|Life has a couple of interesting related posts, one about a bill introduced a few days ago that would criminalize the act of selling Mature-rated video games to minors, and another about a study that reveals only 20% of minors who asked to purchase a Mature-rated game were successful at the task.
- Friends, we present the Nintendo Zapper lamp.
- Pics and details on the inevitable video game adaptation of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
- Mortal Kombat series creator Ed Boon said in a recent interview that fatalities will still be included in MK vs. DC, they'll just have to be modified. (Oh, and definitely click through, because Joystiq has also embedded three videos full of super-violent, old school fatalities.)
- In honor of Mother's Day, FEARnet has picked the top ten scariest movie mothers. (Via)
- Parker Posey and Johnny Knoxville have signed to star in a children's movie from John Waters. Woah.
- Cinematical found some fun Jackie Chan fight scenes on YouTube.
- Cinematical got themselves an exclusive clip from the Youth Without Youth DVD.
- Even more cast photos from G.I. Joe.

Wow, I guess if that guy drinks enough PBR, he can lay in his beloved coffin much sooner.
