Whiz of the Web: Thirsty Thursday
A tall, icy glass of our favorite internet junk, just for you.

- Check out the trailer for Global Metal. Metal's taking over the world!
- Beware! Tom Cruise is in talks with Paramount to star in a fourth Mission: Impossible movie.
- For some reason, they're making yet another film adaptation of Jane Eyre, and this time it looks like Ellen Page will star as the titular character.
- Moviesonline has more new pics from The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (via), and Cinematical has some new pics from the G.I. Joe movie.
- Stride gum is now supporting the petition to push Uwe Boll out of the film industry by offering a free pack of gum to everybody who signs if the petition gets 1 million signatures by May 23rd (the opening day of Boll's next film, Postal).
- In honor of Mother's Day, eMusic asked the moms of various indie rock band members to explain which of their kids' songs they like best and why. The results are here. (Via Jill)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine will apparently feature a young Scott Summers (Cyclops), played by unknown Tim Pocock. We're not sure how they're going to fit that character in in a way that makes sense, but... okay.
- It had come out a while back that Jonah Hill from Superbad would be playing Shia LaBeouf's sidekick in Transformers 2, but now it sounds like negotiations have broken down and Hill won't be appearing in the film after all.
- Your requisite GTA IV news for today: first, we have the game by the numbers. And second, we have a couple of reasons for players of the PS3 version to rejoice: Rockstar released a patch that will hopefully fix the issues with that version of the game, and there could be downloadable content coming in the future.
- Word is that Bruce Boxleitner has won a top-secret recurring role in NBC's Heroes. Maybe it's an insane crossover and he's playing his character from Babylon 5! Then again, maybe not...
- If you're interested, you can read the director's excuses for why they couldn't get Prince Caspian out for its original scheduled release date of Christmas last year.
- An expansion pack is coming soon for Sims 2 that will let you buy Ikea furniture for your in-game characters. We're wondering if you'll also get to see the little guys try to put the furniture together.
- The Nintendo Channel, which we'd originally heard was going to launch with WiiWare, quietly became available to US Wii owners on Wednesday morning.
- Doom 4 has officially been announced, and id Software is hiring people to help make it.
- "The UK's Advertising Standards Authority has banned a recent televised PlayStation 3 ad for including 'misleading' language which claimed the system would play all PlayStation 2 software." Ha!
- BooRah is sort of a combination of Rotten Tomatoes and Digg, but for restaurants. Check out their page for the Philadelphia area. We know it's only lunch time, but it's never too early to start fantasizing about dinner! (Via)
- Pandemic has announced that they're making a game called Lord of the Rings: Conquest to be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this fall. Apparently it's pretty much Star Wars Battlefront in Middle Earth. Sweet.
- Joystiq offers a pretty positive metareview of Boom Blox for the Wii.
