- Hooray for bacon! Slashfood examines the popularity of the tasty meat slice with a couple of amusing links. (Via Sarah)
- Tastykake is going to release Philadelphia Eagles snack cakes later this year, and the Eagles Cheerleaders will be on hand for Tastykake promotional events. (Via Sarah)
- Some British Burger Kings are now offering a $167 hamburger with Kobe beef. Apparently it was also going to be topped with foie gras, but they gave up on that idea after PETA pressured them. (Via Sarah)
- If you hadn't noticed, superhero movies are kind of big these days. Defective Yeti is revealing his superhero movie pet peeves, mostly based around his vague dislike of Iron Man; Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. are already talking Iron Man 2; the latest superhero movie rumors are on Cinematical; the release of The Spirit has been moved up from Jan. 16, 2009 to December 25, 2008; a new video from the set of The Watchmen examines the film's costumes and includes lots of behind-the-scenes footage; John at The Movie Blog has picked 5 lesser-known comic character movies that he’d like to see; and Ken Jennings has an interesting game for you: identify the unintentional superhero crossover (via)!
- Game|Life collects all of Wired's recent coverage of Stephen Spielberg's new game for the Wii: Boom Blox.
- Take-Two is suing the Chicago Transit Authority for pulling ads for Grand Theft Auto IV without providing adequate explanation.
- There's a conference centered around games being built for health care applications, and it's happening relatively nearby and relatively soon. Specifically, it's the Games for Health conference and it's going down in Baltimore this weekend.
- Cool gameplay footage of Protothea, a sci-fi shooter coming to WiiWare.
- Good news, web heads: Blizzard has added digital distribution to their online store.
- A new pic from the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
- A Denver man (54, single, and living with his parents) has submitted to the city a draft of a proposed ordinance which would require the creation of an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission. Everybody's treating this like it's funny and crazy, but... we think he kind of has a point. Let's petition Mayor Nutter to set up something like that for Philly! Who's with us? (Via)
- Cinematical has a cool new poster for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the news that the trailer will air tomorrow, May 8th, simultaneously on Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN and Boomerang at 7:58 in all U.S. time zones.
- Amazon.com has sold out of its Wii Fit pre-orders, after selling approximately 2.5 units per minute since reserves began April 15.
- Colbert protests being passed over for the title of Person of the Year by Time (he got third place), and then has a dance-off with Rain (who took second place) in a couple of amusing videos collected by Joystiq.
- A daily illustration for each New York Times Crossword, created based on two or more of the puzzle’s clues. (Via)
- We're not particularly surprised that Universal Pictures is making a movie about the Knights Templar (entitled The Knights Templar, of course), but we were taken a little off guard by the storyline: the Knights Templar, fresh from the Crusades, are forced to fend off an invading vampire army set on destroying the Holy Grail. Um, wow. That actually sounds... awesome.
- Common has signed on to play a freedom fighter and member of John Connor's inner circle in the upcoming film Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.
- A family action comedy is coming called Little Big War, about a family that must band together to fight action figures that come to life and go on the attack. The idea is to do something like Night at the Museum, and hopefully recreate that film's success.
- Iron Sky is apparently a Finnish sci-fi comedy noir about the Nazis who colonized the moon in 1945 and are due for a return to Earth in 2018. Woah. Check out the teaser trailer here. (Via)
- The upcoming Muppet movie will include a cameo for Charles Grodin, who also appeared in The Great Muppet Caper all those years ago.
