This week's Very Important Philadelphian is Don Shump. Don is a self-decribed Philadelphia renaissance man: web developing at Weblinc, bouncing at Tattooed Mom and National Mechanics, sailing at Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild, beekeeping at the 3rd and Christian Garden, blogging at GeekDad.com and Tucos.net, and cheese making as a baker who does what he can to let others know how great this town really is.
How long have you lived in Philadelphia and what brought you here?
I've lived at 5th and South St. for 5 years. When I got a job downtown it didn't take too long before the commute to and from suburbia drove me nuts.
What is your favorite place in the city?
Right now I'd have to say National Mechanics. Just something about a $5 burger platter in Old City that puts a smile on my face. Plus quizzo with Irish John ROCKS!
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you in Philadelphia?
My son and I were engulfed by a zombie horde stomping down South St. on Easter Sunday.
If you could change one thing about the City of Philadelphia, what would it be?
The lousy school system.
Pick one: Rocky Balboa or Benjamin Franklin?
No contest. Benjamin Franklin all the way.
