This entry is part of our week-long series profiling adoptable pets from Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). So far, we've introduced you to Crunchy, Dunkin, Nevada, Sebastian and Mesu. And now, it's time to meet today's PAWS Dog of the Day:
Meena (A# 04295190)
Meena is a pretty pit bull mix (check out the eyes – one blue, one brown) who's somewhere between 1 and 2 years old. She's very smart, and very eager to please. She's already mastered "sit," and could probably learn other commands quickly with the right motivation (i.e. cookies). She'll need an adopter who is willing to continue to work on training her. Meena is a playful girl who doesn't realize her own strength, and so she shouldn't be in a home with cats or children under 7, but she would be great with kids over 7. She'd also probably do best as an only dog, as she's a real alpha female, but with the right adopter and training, she might work out with a male dog.
If you'd like to save Meena, e-mail natalie@phillypaws.org. The adoption fee for a PAWS dog is $40, plus an $8 city license fee if you live in Philadelphia. The fee includes spaying/neutering, which will be performed before your new companion comes home with you, and microchipping. Also, make note of the shelter number (the "A#" above) and bring it with you when you go to the PAWS shelter, which is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave (map).
