Can't Miss This!

We didn't make it to Can't Miss This! yesterday, but it's not because we don't love you. We were testing you. Did you notice we weren't here with our daily trio of evening derrings-do? We hope so.

guitneeck.jpgMARY SCHOLZ AT TRIUMPH BREWING COMPANY
Scholz will play tonight at Triumph Brewing Company. The combination of bar, brewery, restaurant and intimate live performance from a excellent local musician will give your arid May evening a decidedly smooth flavor.

Wow. We even impressed ourselves with that last line.

WHO: 21+
WHERE: Triumph Brewing Company, 117 Chestnut Street (map)
WHEN: 9pm-ish
HOW MUCH: No cover. We don't think.

EDDIE IZZARD AT THE ACADEMY OF MUSIC
The fact that you haven't heard of Eddie Izzard would be good reason for us to block your IP and deny your ignorant eyes the beauty of our uber-pink take on local life. But alas, you win reprieve! Why? Well, because we might talk a big game, but we're just not that cruel. Also, you have the chance tonight to totally redeem yourself. Izzard will be at the Academy of Music, performing his new stand-up in a show called Stripped. Ladies, don't be upset when his make-up looks better than yours. Gentlemen, don't be unnerved if his uncanny sense of style has you wondering how you might look in skin-tight vinyl and 3-inch platform heels. Whatever your sense of style, though, one thing is undeniable: this man is f# &king hilarious.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: The Academy of Music, Broad and Locust Streets (map)
WHEN: 8pm
HOW MUCH: From $45 to $65 and don't complain. Just go. Get 'em here.

PETER NERO AND THE PHILLY POPS
Go. Listen. Vote. At the end of the season, Mr. Nero will create a program of the most-voted-for songs. Can't beat that.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: The Kimmel Center, 300 South Broad Street (map)
WHEN: 8pm
HOW MUCH: From $26 to $100, and everything in between. Get 'em here.

We saw Eddie the other night. He was great, but went about half an hour too long. And he wasn't in drag. Not even a little, unless you count the red lining on his coat.

The lack of drag dress didn't bother me. The half hour-too long set did.
