Whiz of the Web: Tuesday Torpedoes
The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you.

- Actress Isabella Rossellini's latest project is a series of two-minute films called Green Porno commissioned by the Sundance Channel. In them, she impersonates various small creatures to show how they reproduce. We kid you not. (Via Jill)
- Virtual-Vancouver has partnered with the New Music West festival to create the first massively multi-user online music festival. To attend, all you need to do is get a Windows computer with internet access and install the software client. The festival runs from May 14 to May 18 and is free. (Via Jill)
- You can now watch three minutes of Speed Racer online. We have just done so, and... we're still not sure how we feel about this movie. Hopefully after we see the whole thing we'll be able to form a final opinion. Expect our review later on this week.
- We've been tricked before, but we've got to say, the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's latest is very, very creepy. (Via)
- Apparently Josh Schwartz, the creator of Gossip Girl, is developing yet another X-Men prequel, but it's not the Wolverine or Magneto movies we've already heard about; it sounds like it's going to focus on one of the characters we've already seen, but as a young teen attending the Xavier Institute.
- And speaking of movies based on Marvel Comics, in the wake of Iron Man's ridiculously good opening weekend, Marvel has announced their upcoming slate of films, and it includes Iron Man 2 in 2010, along with a Thor film that same year. Then in 2011 we get The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers. (Small bit of comic book nerd nitpicking: Captain America was in fact not only not the first Avenger, he wasn't in the original team line-up at all.) Finally, how about a little Marvel vs. DC action? The Movie Blog picks five ways Iron Man is better than Batman Begins.
- Wanted isn't even out yet and they're already writing the sequel.
- There aren't many details on it yet, except that it would probably center on Stewie, but word is that Seth McFarlane is still planning on making a Family Guy movie.
- Fun sounds like it's going to be a really neat movie. It's about "two childhood friends who ordered a slew of novelty toys (such as X-ray glasses, Sea-Monkeys, and transforming robots) from the back pages of their late-'70s comic books. Thirty years later, the toys begin living up to their wild advertising claims, forcing the pair to save their town from [the] ensuing chaos."
- A recent interview with Aaron Eckhart revealed some spoilers about Dark Knight. In fact, we swear there was a picture of him in full Two-Face make-up on The Movie Blog at one point, but it seems to have disappeared now. He looked pretty nasty!
- The inspiration for, and creator of, MacGyver (whose name is Lee David Zlotoff, btw) announced he has a big budget MacGyver movie in the planning stages. Sweet!
- We were disappointed by news that the Wii version of Rock Band would not support downloadable content, but Harmonix is making up for this by releasing a special stand-alone expansion disc (called Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1) for the PS2 and Wii versions of the game that will contain 20 rock song levels (click through for the complete track list) for the game that were previously only released as digital downloads. It'll be out June 22 and will cost $30.
- This story about the "Running of Da Bulls" memorial and fund-raiser event in World of Warcraft got us a bit choked up.
- Wired has video coverage of Maker Faire 2008, which is basically a DIY convention.
- Production starts this week on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, and producers are planning on a PG-13 rating and a May 22, 2009 release.
- The first trailer for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor will be coming in June.
- Sci Fi Wire has a few more details on the upcoming remake of Creature From the Black Lagoon.
- The Top 25 Sexiest Movie Couples, according to Moviefone. (Via)
- Anchorman 2 could be on the way soon. This news puts us in a glass case of emotion.
- Cinematical has links to the latest Indiana Jones trailer, plus two TV spots.
- The trailer for upcoming vampire movie Twilight is surprisingly good.
- Check out this very cool video from G4's X-Play wherein we get an explanation of how the Wii controls will work in the duel mode of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. We are so excited about this game.
- Can't wait any longer for WiiWare? That's what hackers are for! They've made it possible to illegally install downloaded Japanese WiiWare titles on North American Wiis.
