PAWS Dog of the Day

Dunkin.jpgAs we're sure you read this morning, we're trying to lend a hand to our friends at PAWS in anticipation of this coming Saturday's PAWS on Main event in Manayunk. This morning, you read about one of the wonderful adoptable cats that PAWS has available for you to make your new pet. Now we're going to tell you about one of their available pets of the doggie variety.

Unfortunately, when it comes to dogs, most people automatically go for the "cutest," or the "prettiest" dog. Dog adoption is something of a beauty pageant that doesn't do justice to some of the really wonderful, sweet "ugly" dogs out there, and you might be depriving of yourself of an incredible companion if you don't give some of these dogs, many of which are pit bull-mixes, a fair chance to win your heart. (Trust us, we almost dognapped the pit-bull mix named "Paws" that we met at Barking Beauty.) With that in mind, today's PAWS dog of the day is...

Dunkin (A# 04405682)

Dunkin is a smiling, carefree 2-to-3 year-old pit bull-mix. It's actually kind of amazing he's such a happy dog, because when he arrived at PAWS, he had over 200 ticks on him. Dunkin is now completely tick free and ready to go to his forever home and family. Dunkin has been at the shelter for quite awhile, so time may be running out for him, and he really deserves a loving home.

If you'd like to save Dunkin, e-mail natalie@phillypaws.org.
The adoption fee for a PAWS dog is $40, plus an $8 city license fee if you live in Philadelphia. The fee includes spaying/neutering, which will be performed before your new companion comes home with you, and microchipping. Also, make note of the shelter number (the "A#" above) and bring it with you when you go to the PAWS shelter, which is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave (map).
