We're the Best!
Naturally. Philadelphians, both native and adopted, know we're the best. But it's still nice to be recognized, and now, the City of Brotherly Love has been recognized...as America's best city for young grads to live in. That's right! According to Apartments.com and CBCampus.com, this is the best place for young twentysomethings to live. (This may be the only quality of life-style survey ever where Philly comes in ahead of Phoenix and San Francisco. Phoenix was listed as number 4, and San Fran didn't make the top 10.) The list was based on the population of 20 to 24-year-olds in the city, the availability of jobs suitable for recent college grads, and the average cost of a 1-bedroom apartment ($962 for those of you keeping score at home). Our obvious favoritism aside, we appreciate being recognized as a top city for young people to live in. After all, our city is chock full of very good, yet affordable restaurants; housing isn't nearly as expensive as New York ($1520 for an average one-bedroom apartment) or Boston ($1343); and with a plethora of major universities in and around the city, there's an abundance of undergrads to hook up with quality nightlife opportunities and cultural events to enjoy. You, our readers, know this. And we know it, too. But after hearing this story, we couldn't help but pat ourselves on the back a bit.
So, twentysomething readers, what is it you love about living in Philadelphia? And how do you keep your cost of living low while keeping your quality of life up (aside from planning your social calendar according to Frugal Fun Alert)? Or do you? Do you think there's another city that should have been tops on this list? Let us know!

What do I love about living in Philly? The beer. Definitely the beer.
