Things I Learned From My Infant Daughter

One of the joys of being a Dad is seeing life through the eyes of a child. Here are some of the things I’ve learned from my 21-month-old daughter, Carlin:
Our kitty is a “bad kitty.”Happiness can be found in an empty box.
The bipolar junction transistor (or “BJT”) was the first type of transistor to be mass-produced.
The capital of Greenland is Nuuk.
The United Nations is comprised of five deliberating bodies: The General Assembly, the Security Council, The Economic and Social Council, the Secretariat and the International Court of Justice.
It took 200 years to build Notre Dame in Paris.
In the 1600s, Philadelphia and its surrounding regions were called “New Sweden.”
The Earth is not round. It is an oblate spheroid; that is, it is squashed slightly at the poles and bulges out at the equator due to its rotation.
“Homeostasis” is a physiological process that allows an organism to maintain its internal environment despite its external environment.
Five-Card Poker has 2,598,960 possible hands.
Blues Clues is great! Especially when taken as a means of teaching a child through song, simple instruction and repetition; all hallmarks of early child development. Plus Steve is funny.
The rise in the price of gasoline is more related to the high cost of refining oil than “gouging” by the oil companies. Still it is a concern. To combat high prices the government should add a $1 per gallon gas tax that would entice more drivers to actually drive less, therefore lowering the cost of driving. Of course this is conjecture but there is some fascinating evidence that supports it.
Oh, by the way, my daughter is a goddamn genius.

hehheh I'm silly. I was going to post that there's way more possible poker hands than that. Then I realized that order doesn't matter in poker. d'oh.
