Nutter? I Don't Even Know 'er!

- Well, the Pennsylvania primary has (finally!) come and gone, and Michael's candidate, Hillary Clinton, carried the state, but not Philadelphia. But even though Barack Obama won the city, and even if Obama eventually wins the nomination, there probably won't be any egg on Michael's face.
- And the winner for pointless press conference of the week goes to...Michael's conference to encourage the city to support the Sixers and Flyers in their playoff runs. Oh, and the Schuylkill Expressway is being relabeled as "I-76ers" for the playoffs. Isn't that cute?
- Michael delivered the commencement address to the "graduates" of the Ready, Willing & Able Program, which aims to reintegrate homeless Philadelphians into the workforce. The program, although not started by Michael, is an embodiment of the mayor's strategy of reintegrating the homeless and ex-offenders into society as a means of cutting back on crime.
- After Michael cut the budget increase for Philadelphia Safe & Sound that John Street had put in during the twilight of his administration, the organization has shut down, causing a scramble for the city or some other organization to provide after-school and summer services for children. Michael, however, insists that services for children will be available despite the PSS's closing.
- And at least one media outlet thinks that, all things considered, Michael's first 100 days in office went pretty well. We'd be hard-pressed not to agree, but saying Michael had a good first 100 days might not be saying much, given that anything would look pretty good after the Street administration.

I've lived in this city for over 6 years, and this is the first time I've ever noticed the slight humor behind I-76 running through Philadelphia.
