Can't Miss This!
Today is the day. And the image says it all. We know how great Philadelphians are, how proud and patriotic we can be. And we also know how much every true Philadelphian loves to complain. Sports, weather (guilty as charged) and politics, among other things. Well, the fact is that if you don't vote, your complaints are merely worthless and meaningless strings of words, thrown together by someone with no legitimate right to complain. And why waste the greatest right of all?
VOTE OR, UM, SOMETHING HORRIBLE AND EVIL WILL BEFALL YOU
Okay, so this isn't technically an event in the traditional sense. It's a 13-hour, state-wide, multi-generational, pan-ethnic vote-fest of the highest order. Don't know where to go and get your ballot on? Plug your address into the state polling place information site. Are you a rookie who isn't sure exactly how it all works and needs a few pointers? The state also has an election day site to help out cherry-poppin' voters. The Committee of Seventy provides info on the candidates and issues at hand in this election cycle. So there you have it: no excuses! Remember, you'll need to bring the appropriate form(s) of ID, too.

Cokie Roberts is a name and a voice familiar to anyone who listens to NPR. Now she has brought that same penchant for quality reporting to her new book, Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation. She'll be discussing it tonight at the Free Library. The event doesn't start until polling ends, so this is no reason to miss that vote!

KELLY WRITERS HOUSE PRESENTS: SCRAPBOOK - IMAGINING PHILADELPHIA
We know, we know: we keep sending you to KWH, but that's because, as usual, they've got their finger on the pulse of local creativity. This time, it's Junior Fellow Moira Moody's Scrapbook. It chronicles how even someone who has lived here all her life can be inspired by a sudden spark by the idiosyncrasies of our city. This particular spark struck her while she was working for AmeriCorps at YouthBuild Philly. Join her for an evening of discussion about the history and creative culture of Philadelphia and its residents. Just remember: no KWH until you vote!
WHO: Anyone!
