Can't Miss This!

Look outside. Depressing, depressing and depressing. The weekend was just what the doctor ordered and then, as if by divine (demonic?) intervention, everything is prepared to ensure that Monday remains just that: Monday.

overcast in the citayDIE ACTOR DIE
Die Actor Die is a monthly comedy show put on by our very own Don Montrey (who recently interviewed friends and fellow funny-folk, Meg and Rob). It's going to be funny, cheap and about as anti-Monday as you could possibly ask for. And think about it: we neglected thousands of other potential event listings to include this specific event listing. We weeded through heaps and mounds of awesome, filthy, stinking piles of bodacious, just to find this show for you. Or maybe he just told us about it. Either way, $5 for an evening of "sketch, stand-up, video, [and] music" is sheer robbery. And you can be the thief. Doesn't that sound daring? Thievery. Cheeky thievery, though. Not evil thievery.

KELLY WRITERS HOUSE PRESENTS: WORDS IN YOUR FACE
This event, subtitled "A Guided Tour Through Twenty Years of the New York City Poetry Slam" is emceed by Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, a slam poet herself. She will offer a survey of the spoken word material heard at the Slam (which she also does in her book of the same name). She is joined by fellow poets Shappy Seasholtz, Edward Garcia, Nicole Homer and Chad Anderson. This event is the second annual Caroline Rothstein Oral Poetry Event.

MOVIE MONDAY AT THE TROC PRESENTS: WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY
We can't get enough of Movie Mondays at the Troc. And we can't get enough of this movie, either. You know the drill: get drunk, watch movie, get drunker, yell at screen, try to make strangers laugh, cry when they tell you to shut the f#%k up.
WHO: 21+
WHERE: Upstairs @ The Trocadero, 10th and Arch Streets (map)
WHEN: Doors at 6pm; Movie starts at 8pm
