Can't Miss This!

It's so nice out that we decided to find you three things to do indoors. You know, so you wouldn't get too used the warm weather. In case it decides to get down to 40 fu#%ing degrees again. We hate Weather's attitude. It acts as if it owes us nothing. As if it were some force of nature, free to do as it pleases without input or intervention from humanity. Oh wait, we warmed the hell out of your globe, didn't we, Weather? That's right. Because if we can't sell it, we'll microwave it.

Beer Phixr-ized
PREMIER BEER TASTING WITH PHILADELPHIA BREWING COMPANY
We've been waiting forever to use that admittedly cheesy Phixr effect and we love the way it turned out. Having said that, we're also pretty excited about tonight's combination of local ale and art. That's right, the NEXUS/foundation for today's art and the Philadelphia Brewing Company are teaming up to bring you beer samples, hors d’oeuvres and a gallery setting for local artists to display their works, some of which were commissioned specifically for the event. The commissioned works will be raffled off during the show, so you may have to consider taking down those stupid over-played poker-playing dumb stupid dogs. We're not sure why we hate them so much, but we do.

KELLY WRITERS HOUSE PRESENTS: RUNNING A CITY PAPER
The City Paper's editorial staff will be on hand for this discussion of what it takes to run a print paper in the 2.0 era. Of course, our inclusion of the event is a testament to the complicated interaction between the print and digital worlds. Kelly Writers House is good at bringing relevant events directly to the audiences that are most interested. Tonight promises to continue that streak. Young writers are the next generation of journalists, print or otherwise, and they have much to learn from print's struggles as well as its triumphs. We're reaching across the aisle on this one and letting you know that if you work in journalism, new media, or both, this will be an informative and, if we're to take the paper's content as any indication, a very funny gathering.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania, 38th and Locust Streets (map)
WHEN: 6pm
HOW MUCH: Free free free!

THEORY OF NOISE AT THE KHYBER
You don't get out and see enough local music. Or see enough music, locally. Seriously. If you're not down with the whole local art/local beer thing, then maybe you should get your "OMG I'm in danger of becoming a yuppie!" ass over to the Khyber tonight. The bill includes headliner Theory of Noise, as well as Swear On Your Life and Surgeon. Because there are only three kinds of non-yuppies in this city: art kids, beer crafters, and those who go to too many shows at bars during the week. Everyone else is asleep at the wheel of life. Wait. That doesn't really work. Oh whatever. You get the point.
WHO: 21+
WHERE: The Khyber, 2nd Street, between Market and Chestnut Streets (map)
WHEN: 9pm. Be aware that happy hour rocks from 5pm to 8pm and includes $2 yards pints, $1 domestic bottles and $1 off everything else.
HOW MUCH: $8. Get 'em here.
