Whiz of the Web: Wednesday Whiz-Up
The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- Supposedly Indy 4 is now locked down with a running time of 140 minutes.
- A possible plot spoiler for the next Star Trek can be found here. It's an interesting idea...
- Apparently Midnight Meat Train will be getting a theatrical release after all—just not in Canada. Those poor Canadians. Rumor is they might be taking the "Meat" out of the title, too, so it would just be called Midnight Train. Which in our opinion would be just as stupid a move as changing the title of Snakes on a Plane.
- Reviews and impressions of Iron Man are coming in after some early screenings, and it sounds like everybody's loving the movie. Multiple people mentioned that the film has plenty of great character development, which is very welcome news. Keep an eye out for our review!
- How can a series of bottles and a remote-controlled car be used to play the theme to Super Mario Bros.? Just watch the video.
- Def Leppard's new single "Nine Lives" will debut on Guitar Hero III, popping up on Xbox Live on April 24th, and then showing up at the PS3 store May 8th.
- Rumor is that Nintendo will unveil a new version of the DS at E3. We really hope it's not actually going to be called the DS Extreme, because that's really lame.
- A few nights ago, the Thundercats logo was projected onto the Houses of Parliament, apparently entirely in order to advertise that Thundercats Season 2 Volume 1 is being released on DVD. Click through for pics.
- M. Night Shyamalan's live-action big-screen adaptation of the popular animated TV series Avatar: The Last Airbender just got an official release date: July 2, 2010. It also got a shorter title; they're taking the word "avatar" out so people won't confuse it with James Cameron's Avatar.
- Aww, man. They're postponing the announcement of next year's Oscar nominations because of some kind of "presidential inauguration." Pfft. Somebody has their priorities all messed up...
- Check out these cool pics wherein Star Wars characters have been composited into stark urban environments.
- Lars von Trier is making an English language film in Germany about a couple who retreat to a cabin in the woods to recover from the death of their child. It's described as a psychological thriller that evolves into a horror film. Oh, and the title is Antichrist. Interesting...
- They're still making a movie of The Greatest American Hero, but it's now been confirmed that Owen Wilson will not be playing the title character. In fact, they're still looking for their star, and are even open to casting an unknown in the part.
- Cinematical lists for us seven films with hilarious nudity.
- Peekaboo Pole Dancing (not entirely SFW, although there's no nudity), a company that sells portable dance poles, has sent around a press release email announcing their idea for a Wii pole-dancing game that would require you, as the player, to "shake your booty" and "spin your thing." We kind of doubt Nintendo will take them up on the idea, but it's certainly... evocative.
- For some reason, Europe got their hands on Mario Kart Wii before America (wtf?), and the reviews coming in from over there are pretty good, although not as great as one might hope.
- Soul Calibur IV will be coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 (but not Wii...*sniff*) on July 29th, in both regular and premium editions.
- Pics of Scarlett and Duke’s battle armor from G.I. Joe.
- Game|Life shows you how to fix your broken NES.
- It's official: Wii Fit will cost $90 when it hits shelves on May 19.
- We tried to do this ourselves yesterday, but now Joystiq has put together their own list of posts about the Nintendo Media Summit.
- Apparently our government has just approved a system of emergency warning text messages, which is expected to go live by 2010.
- Stan Lee's latest superhero creation, Legion of 5, will be released as a series of animated feature films, and supported by print and electronic comics, games, merchandising, and online and mobile releases. Details are being kept under wraps, but we're betting it's about five people who acquire fantastic powers and end up living lives both ordinary and extraordinary.
