
- Michael's well-publicized citywide cleanup was last weekend. He called the effort, which drew 15,000 volunteers, the largest cleanup in United States history. All in all, volunteers cleaned up more than 2.5 million pounds in trash. Now the city needs to listen to Natalia Smirnov and everyone else in the city calling for more trash cans.
- The Michael Nutter lovefest continued this week, with the mayor being honored by Philadelphia Hospitality with the Vision of Philadelphia Award.
- Michael joined the City Council in giving the proverbial middle finger to the Pennsylvania state legislature by signing five new local gun-control laws. However, the power to regulate firearms in Pennsylvania is reserved to the state government, and we expect that Pennsylvania courts will be striking down the laws when they're challenged by gun interest groups, and they certainly will be.
- The urban issues forum that Michael called for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to hold as part of the run-up to the Pennsylvania primary is a no-go because of logistical difficulties.
- Speaking of Presidential primary overload, Michael has got to be looking forward to the Pennsylvania primary so that, one way or another, he can stop defending his endorsement of Hillary Clinton, because he's really getting sick of it.
