Stalking Stephen

colbertonnotice.jpg

We at Phillyist have been encouraging our readers to Stalk Stephen Colbert since he first announced he'd be coming to Philadelphia. That was almost a month ago.

Enter Patrick Rapa of City Paper, who yesterday posted his own version of the contest. You're not fooling us, Rapa. You may have dolled yours up as a scavenger hunt full of cute items for your readers to find, like Stephen eating a "Philly Taco" (which, by the way, isn't even an original idea—Philadelphia Weekly's Jeffrey Barg made that up in 2003 under the moniker of the "Lorenzo's-Jim's Challenge") and Stephen performing a mock wedding between two actors in colonial garb. Then you get all creepy-weird when you suggest that your readers go into Stephen's hotel room and photograph him sleeping. We know we encouraged our readers to stalk Stephen, but it was strictly to find him enjoying our fair city, not "Sleeping like an angel, our little angel." That's just wrong, Rapa.

And so, to take a cue from our favorite Comedy Central pundit, we must tell you, Pat Rapa, that you're on notice. Also, we're wagging our finger at you.

Oh and by the way, readers? We have a source at the show who's told us that Stephen won't have time to do much of anything in Philly other than hang out in the writers' room, so you'll have to be especially clever in your stalking. The show is taping at the Annenberg Center on Penn's campus. Be creative, and send those pictures in!
