• The police got the guy who beat up and robbed that 81-year-old lady, who subsequently gave him a good smack on the head with a chair leg and sent him running from her home.
• A memorandum sent to the School Reform Commission from the state's school-safety watchdog informed the group that it was flunking when it comes to properly disciplining the majority of violent students and thoroughly reporting serious crimes.
• Mayor Nutter had proposed a while back that both Democratic presidential candidates come to Philadelphia prior to the April 22nd Pennsylvania primary to have a forum on urban issues, but yesterday he said it's unlikely to happen, due to logistical and scheduling problems. Meanwhile, the candidates are attacking each other, but subtly.
• Instead of just being happy that he won the fight over the offensive "speak English" sign at Geno's Steaks, owner Joey Vento now wants the city's Fair Practices Ordinance amended, saying he'll take his fight all the way to federal court if the city doesn't meet his demands.
• This article describes one of the stupidest and most heartless crimes we've heard of recently: two men accosted a young woman with a baby near the 69th Street Terminal, punching the baby and the woman and stealing the woman's purse. They then ran into a home belonging to one of them which was only a few feet away, and that's where cops found them not long after, still wearing the same clothes as they had been during the attack. The woman and her baby were not seriously hurt, and she got her purse back; only $10 was missing.
• City officials are considering a $13 million upgrade to the Motorola digital radio system used by Philadelphia police and firefighters. The Daily News reminds us how many problems the system has had since its installation, and even goes on to list each specific system failure since 2005.
• Police say the owners of Sansom Cellular ran an illicit drug emporium inside. They arrested said owners, as well as a couple of customers, on Monday.
