Yo! Philly in the News

- The first weekend in April brought with it a host of grim violence, including two home invasions, a robbery, a stabbing, five shootings, and a homicide.
- Not on the list: A man was assaulted and robbed on the El Friday night by three men wearing black wigs. For those keeping track at home, that’s three assaults around the El in the last 10 days. Mayor Nutter assures us that they are just isolated incidents.
- Representatives from the city and a victim’s advocate will hold a press conference at 9:30AM today to "discuss prison and firearms legislation that's poised for passage in the state House of Representatives.” Down in Washington, guns-rights supporters will be gathering for the third annual Right to Bear Arms rally. Representative Angel Cruz should stay away from rope and the tree of liberty for a few days.
- In other rally news, Philadelphia teachers, students, and parents will hold a rally calling for passage of Rendell’s education budget at 4:30PM in the Lower Level Center Court in the Gallery.
- With all that Nutter’s done for us, the country only cares that he’s for Hillary. They didn’t even notice him getting dirty with the common folk on Saturday. Go figure.
- Several Phillyists cruising the downtown Film Festival locales yesterday reported seeing huge clouds of black smoke from the east. This morning, the mystery is solved: it was a huge fire in an abandoned warehouse in Camden.

It's like Philly's subway beatings are as common now as warehouse fires in Camden... so sad. On a brighter side, thank you for the photo credit. :)
