Provocative documentary director and activist Morgan Spurlock is at it again, this time turning a critical eye (and lens) on Al Qaeda with Where in the World is Osama Bin Ladin? After years of hype, chase and dire predictions of imminent showdowns, this public enemy #1 is still on the loose, and we're apparently no closer to apprehending him (or blowing him away). Not content to buy the Bush administration's rhetoric on the subject, Spurlock set off on a scavenger hunt of sorts, risking life and limb in search of the truth about Bin Ladin.
To support the launch of what will surely be a landmark film, The Weinstein Company (yes, those Weinsteins) is inviting fans in five cities (Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington D.C.) to participate in a two-week scavenger hunt of their own, with a prize of $1,000 per city. Street teams will create and distribute flyers featuring contest information and unique stills from the upcoming film, which fans will then search for and snap a camera phone photo of. Once the photos are submitted and verified, participants will receive a message confirming their entry into the contest and a link to exclusive content from the film. Fans will also be able to enter by following clues in promotional ads in local newspapers.
Get your iPhones and Sidekicks and Razrs ready: the hunt kicks off at 12:00 AM on Monday, April 7th and runs through 11:59 PM on opening day, Friday, April 18th.
