We bring you the buzz from the 215 blogs this week.
Philebrity dissected the Comcast/BitTorrent relationship and broke down exactly why it's not good news for anyone. In short, it deals a crushing blow to net neutrality. Well hey, it's not as if Comcast is known for their great business practices. This Phillyist in particular has had one problem after another with the behemoth.
Metroblogging pondered Obama's status as a pop culture icon on par with MLK and Britney Spears. We were thinking the new artwork that sparked the observation was a little Shepard Fairey-esque. Then we found out that it was indeed created by Fairey. Sweet. But does this mean we have to OBEY Obama?
Speaking of art, the ladies at Artblog bemoaned the fact that Philadelphia artists were conspicuously absent from this year's Whitney Biennial and noted a handful of local galleries whose shows are both riskier and more worthwhile than the bulk of the Biennial. We suggest you check them out, perhaps starting tomorrow on First Friday.
PhillyGossip was pleased to report that Friday's episode of Oprah will expose the horrible abuses occurring in Lancaster's Amish puppy mills. While we feel this is an issue that deserves national attention of the type only Oprah can bring, we're a little confused about how Lisa Ling was able to go undercover. Oh, right—the Amish don't have TVs.
Greenadelphia gave the deets on PhillyCarShare's "Walk Ride Share" challenge, which kicks off in May. A slew of perks are available to participants and we can all benefit from cleaner air. Find out more and sign up here.
