Attention American Idol Fans
Be sure to tune into The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at 9:00 a.m. on WTXF Fox 29 to see their exclusive interview with Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson of American Idol.
Phillyist has obtained advance clips of the interviews and can assure you the segment promises to be interesting to AI fans.
Some of the highlights include:
RYAN SEACREST ON….
IS THE BACK AND FORTH WITH SIMON COWELL EVER PLANNED?
Ryan: The judges and I never know what we are going to say to each other. As a matter of fact, sometimes we say things…. and I say, "Oh god…what did I say?!"
HIS FAVORITE CONTESTANT
Juliet: Wittling down the top 10…do you have front runners?
Ryan: I think David Archuleta, who’s a favorite of the judges and also of the audience. However, the beauty of the show is that America obviously votes. I look down at that card and I see the name and sometimes I know the name before-hand and still read the name two or three times and go… is that right?
HIS REGRETS ON IDOL
Juliet: What’s the last thing you regretted saying on the show?
Ryan: It’s not what I’ve said… it’s what I have worn!
HIS EVER EXPANDING EMPIRE OF TV SHOWS
Juliet: I think everybody has probably said this a million times to you… that you do everything! You have your radio show and you do this show and that show. You have kind of transcended…you are kind of a mogul and you’re thirty!
Ryan: 33… December '74... I changed my parents lives… in a bad way. (joking) I’ll tell you something—I really love doing it. I love hosting… obviously. I love building a company and doing all the things behind the scenes. I started doing the pledge of allegiance… hosting the pep rally… doing the school announcements… I mean, that was sort of my practice.
ON BEING A HANDS-ON HOST AND PRODUCER
Ryan: When I started in the business, the only way I knew how to do it was wearing all the hats. When I started in radio, I was driving the van, doing the show, giving out key chains and selling some of the ads. So now, when I host the show or present a show, I really like to know the why and the who… and spend time with people. Even with Idol, I’m here all day and I watch the contestants rehearse. Then, we all show up and do it live… that’s the only way I know how to do it.
RANDY JACKSON ON….
THE CONTESTANT WITH THE MOST TALENT
Randy: I guess David Archuleta, David Cooke and Brooke White… probably Carly (Smithson), too…. I think Carly is really, really talented and really, really strong and doesn’t really know her own strengths. I don’t think she really knows and embraces it like that… because vocally for me, she’s got the most vocal talent in all of the top 10.
ON THE ON-AIR BICKERING BETWEEN THE JUDGES
Juliet: You don’t seem to get into all the host-judge spats back and forth, like the other ones do. Do you ever get annoyed…. like shut up—let’s concentrate more on the contestants?
Randy: [Talking about the Ryan and Simon banter] Being the Dawg, I understand the idea of their bro-mance. It’s okay with me… I’m cool with it. I’m my own man… so I mean, I let them have their own bro-mance.
Juliet: It's touching isn’t it?
Randy: I’m sweet... I think it’s really nice.
The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet airs at 9 a.m., Monday through Friday on FOX.
