Whiz of the Web: Tuesday Torpedoes
The shapeless dough of the internet, formed into tasty pellets and baked to perfection, just for you.

- That the movie's called Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead and that it's directed by Troma founder Lloyd Kaufman should tip you off, but just to be absolutely clear: this trailer is filthy, offensive, and disgusting. It's also pretty funny.
- Remember when we said the next Rambo would be filming in Bulgaria soon? Well, that doesn't mean it's set in Bulgaria. In fact, Bulgaria will be doubling for Arizona, which is the actual setting of the film. Why? It was cheaper, of course!
- Jared Padalecki of TV's Supernatural is in final negotiations to play the lead role (meaning Jason, apparently) in the new Friday the 13th movie. In other casting news, James Gandolfini will play the mayor of New York in Columbia Pictures' remake of The Taking of Pelham 123, which will be directed by Tony Scott and also star Denzel Washington and John Travolta.
- So, the format war is over, and it's time for all of us to get our Blu-ray players, right? Wrong! Now you have to wait for Blu-ray profile 2.0.

- Nintendo's WiiWare service went live in Japan yesterday, and Game|Life was all over it. They give their impressions of various WiiWare games, and also point out that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A King apparently has pay-to-play elements (just like Philly politics!).
- We've known for a little while that Rock Band would be coming to Wii, but now there's finally a release date, and some interesting details, like no Music Store for downloading more songs (wtf?!), a first look at the Wii version of the drum kit, some nagging questions answered, and a handy guitar compatibility guide.
- In other Nintendo news, it looks like Wii Fit is going to cost $90. Ouch.
- Oops, details about a new Sonic game leaked out early, so Sega was forced to confirm them. The surprising part here is that anybody still cares about Sonic games...
- Heh heh. Pretty neat Portal street art in Toronto.
- Huh. Mars has salt. Who knew?

- Stephen King and his son Joe Hill, both best-selling authors, are going to do their first writing collaboration—a novella called "Throttle," which will appear in a forthcoming anthology honoring I Am Legend author Richard Matheson. The anthology is called He Is Legend and will comprise new tales set in the fictional universes Matheson created. "Throttle" is set in the same world as Matheson's story "Duel," which we hope you're aware was adapted into an awesome TV movie by Steven Spielberg.
- Now they're making comic books just so they can adapt them into movies! Hugh Jackman and Eli Stone co-creator Marc Guggenheim are teaming with Virgin Comics to create Nowhere Man, a comic book series designed to be transferred to the big screen as a Jackman vehicle. Supposedly it features a protagonist reminiscent of the one Will Smith played in I Am Legend. That story's getting around...
- Fanboys is a comedy about a bunch of Star Wars fans on a quest to get to Skywalker Ranch and see Episode I before the movie is released. But Fanboys itself has had its release delayed over and over. Now the Weinsteins are saying two editions of the movie will be coming out on DVD, but no theatrical or DVD release dates have been announced yet. Meanwhile fans of the film suspect the Weinsteins are cutting it up, and are planning a boycott of the Weinsteins' other films in response.
- Final Fantasy vs. Dead or Alive 2. Enjoy!
- Apparently a romantic comedy called The Dream of the Romans just started filming right here in our fair city.
