Can't Miss This!
We've got some live music, some burlesque fundraising and more tonight, so for those of you who thought Tuesday was for, um, not seeing live music or fundraising via burlesque shows, well, um, it is. So there. In all seriousness, we think the beginning of the week is often overlooked, despite its tendency to be abnormally bloated with stuff to do. Getting out and about pre-Thursday is a good way to bring a little bit of the weekend into those oh-so-remote reaches of the work week.
MORCHEEBA AT THE TROC
Tuesday night is good for live music because you're no longer feeling the crushing weight of Monday upon your shoulders and you're looking forward to the midweek marker Wednesday brings, but you're not exhausted enough yet from the busy week to declare yourself sedentary evening couch fodder. Morcheeba are part hippie, part beach bum, part dance party, and all British. Their name may or may not reference a certain illegal herbal remedy, but their music is remedy enough. Aurally the opposite of Marilyn Manson, they are an excellent way to get out and about, do a little dance, make a little like and get down tonight. Upbeat but relaxed. Just the way life should be.
With Federico Aubele and special guest DJ Stephen Bloodbath.

Revival Burlesque and its members need money to make it to Vegas for the Miss Exotic World pageant, which brings together burlesque dancers from all over the country, to commingle and compete. The Tritone is hosting the fundraiser, which will include the dancers' "showcasing their best numbers, screening videos from their shows, dancing the night away, and auctioning the clothes off their backs". If they can't raise some funds, then no one can raise any funds.

PLANNING THE MODERN CITY
Dr. David Brownlee Ph.D, an art history guru from the University of Pennsylvania, will be on hand tonight at Physick House to discuss his article, Building the City Beautiful: The Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Philadelphia Museum of Art (you need JSTOR access, available for most students). The price is a little steep for this lecture, but it gives you access to someone with a vast knowledge of what it takes to push a city like ours into the future of planning and reintegration with the surrounding landscape.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: Presented by the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks, at Physick House, 4th Street between Spruce and Pine Streets (map)
