Whiz of the Web: Monday Meat Slices
The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment.

- Fantasy/humor author Terry Pratchett recently donated over a million dollars for research into the causes and cures of Alzheimer's Disease, and now an effort to match his donation has started. It's appropriately called Match It for Pratchett, and fellow fantasy author George R.R. Martin has details on how you can participate on his Not a Blog. You might want to consider a snazzy Match It for Pratchett T-shirt, for instance.
- Yesterday was Easter, which means there are a number of Easter-related posts that we have to pass on to you, like The Movie Blog's amusing photographic Happy Easter wish, Cakespy's tips for what to do with those Easter candy leftovers (via Sarah), and yet another slideshow of amusing Peep dioramas (also via Sarah). (It's mostly unrelated, except for the Jesus ones, but we must point out that we were also horrified and amused by Asylum's gallery of the worst tattoos ever.)
- Red vs. Blue teaches us how the internet is different from the real world. Hilarity ensues. Seriously, it is really, really funny.
- People, a film entitled Zombie Strippers, starring Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund, is apparently coming to the Ritz at the Bourse on April 25th. Click through for more details, and the awesomely bad trailer!
- Nerd World has some advice for Peter Berg, the director of the upcoming re-adaptation of Dune.
- Game|Life has put together lots of info on the Gibson lawsuit against Viacom and EA.
- "17-year-old Thomas Sangster (Nanny McPhee, Love Actually) has been cast to play comic book hero Tintin in the trilogy of performance capture films to be directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.... He’ll be joining Andy Serkis, who has been cast as Tintin’s sidekick Captain Haddock." We know exactly nothing about Tintin, but it sounds like a lot of talented people are involved, so we're officially interested in this adaptation.
- We had posted one of these pics of Snake Eyes from the G.I. Joe movie last week, but the other one is new to us, and even better.
- Mario Kart Wii gameplay videos! (Via)
- Remember that guy who had his one-of-a-kind personalized Xbox 360 wiped clean by Microsoft tech support? Well, it took them a while, but the folks at Microsoft finally sent him an apology—in the form of a brand new, one-of-a-kind personalized Xbox 360, covered with special artwork and signatures, including the John Hancock of one Mr. Bill Gates.
- World's Tallest Filing Cabinet!! That is all.
- This LEGO recreation of the "Bring out your dead" scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail led us to this list of the Best LEGO Sets in History. Man, we loved Legoland Space... (Via)
- We're all for saving water and everything, but a toilet-mounted washing machine just seems... wrong somehow.
- Check it out: crayon sculpture. Very neat. (Via)
- OK, check out the plot summary for the upcoming vampire action flick The Bleeding: "The story centers on an ex-Army Ranger searching for the killer of his parents who discovers a family of vampires in a former chemical weapons factory-turned-nightclub." Now check out the cast: William McNamara, Pittsburgh Slim, Rachelle Leah, Kat Von D, Vinnie Jones, Michael Matthias, Michael Madsen, DMX, and Armand Assante. Wow, remember Armand Assante? He was in like every other movie in the '90s. This should be interesting...
- The SXSW website is now apparently hosting podcasts of all this year's panels. (Via)
- For the geeks who love food, and the foodies who are geeks, enjoy that saga of the quest for a decent lembas recipe. (Via Sarah)
